Cardboard edits the footage you have. Vupie makes the film you don't have yet.

Cardboard is an agentic video editor from Y Combinator's Winter 2026 batch. Give it footage, a prompt or both, and its agent builds an editable first cut: it trims dead air and filler words, adds captions, reframes for social and generates shots and music when you need them. It runs in Chrome, and as a Mac app that edits and exports on your Mac. Vupie starts where there is no footage yet: it writes the script, generates every shot, voices it and renders the finished film on our servers, so there is nothing to install and any device will do.

WHERE CARDBOARD SHINES
  • Edits your own footage: cuts dead air, filler words and retakes, and finds the best moments in long recordings
  • Recipes: remix a video you like into your own version
  • Timelines out to Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve
  • Works with your own agent: Claude Code and Codex in the Mac app, or any agent through its CLI and MCP server
WHERE VUPIE IS DIFFERENT
  • Nothing to install: the studio runs in the browser on a computer, tablet or phone
  • Footage, voice and the render run in the cloud, so a slow laptop renders as fast as a new one
  • Narration timed to the word, with charts and maps from your data
  • Every number checked against its source; one without a source blocks the render
